First off, this TV stand is well engineered, and if you take your time during assembly, you will have a sturdy, good looking cabinet. There are plenty of connection pieces, the instructions are pretty good, and the individual cabinet pieces are not too heavy. I am a 69 year old woman, and I put this together myself in about 3 hours, took my time. This TV stand is made of the usual materials of less expensive furniture — particle board, faux wood veneer. The fireplace insert is awesome, and I have paid as much just for an electric fireplace in the past. Tip. Since I have a hard floor, I replaced the foot tips with the peel and stick felt, so I can slide this easily without damaging the floors. I am very pleased with the results.
