I've read blogs about the OEM plastic cap leakage issues and never thought about it until the oil level light flashed a few times. I thought it was just a small puddle of oil at the top after adding the oil. No! Turns out the blogs were right! I couldn't find a crack or anything wrong with the o-ring, all I saw was a puddle of oil forming at the back of the cap and a constant low oil warning. It turned out to be bleeding oil. I purchased this item and installed it during a scheduled oil change (I do it myself). I had to remove and flush all of the lower plastic under the engine cases as there was a lot of heavy oil slurry and dirt stuck to it. We reset everything and voila, no more leaks! I've ridden over 5000 miles and done one extra oil change with this cap on and damn, don't worry! Change or don't change the cage, whichever you choose, but make sure you have this aluminum beauty on top! I never had an issue with the cage that came with the kit. The car currently has just over 50,000 miles, less than 7,000 miles per year, so yes, it's still a baby. I've seen it sell for a lot more but I'm happy with the price and the product. Hope that helps.
