Review on 50wt Aurifil Natural White Quilting Thread by Heather Shaw

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Without exception the best yarn for quilting!

later How many times did you carefully measure before you cut out your pieces, used the quarter inch foot on your machine and slowly sewed the pieces together to form a precise block. . Then measured the block and found it to be smaller than the instructions say? This used to be the most annoying part of quilting for me. . so much so that I have given my blocks to various troubleshooting instructors. That's when I discovered Aurifil 50 wt thread. I never realized how big a difference one thread can make. But think about it. . .if the thread used is about the same thickness as the threads woven in, the seams go deeper into the fabric and take up less space. . . Make perfect seams every time. Now stretch the warp thread with your fingertips and watch out for the lumps. . .Absolutely no lumps in the Aurifil thread. By far the best sewing thread. However, because it's so thin it's certainly strong enough to hold seams together when sewing clothes, but pulling the ruffle is more difficult. . So don't throw away polyester/cotton threads as they are still useful for sewing clothes. . .but nothing but Auriphile comes close to my patchwork quilts!
