I live in an older society and almost everyone has a dog that bites their ankle and while many owners struggle with their dog barking, I have one that doesn't . She sits outside in her wheelchair and lets her dog bark at everything, even if you talk to her. She lives across the street and my porch is more than 50 meters from her sidewalk. She came out and I happened to be sitting on my porch, her dog barked, I pointed her in her direction, and voila, the dog stopped barking. So if it's effective at that range, I imagine it'll be even more effective at shorter ranges. My guess is that the dog is about the size of a large Chihuahua and is more easily affected by this device, and the larger breed may not be. Anyway, I love this piece and it comes with me to work as a crafter. =
