Inaccurate grind, uneven grind

I bought this coffee grinder because I have other machines from this company and I was satisfied. I have experimented with this grinder several times trying to find the grind I need. I wasn't interested in ultra-fine grinding. I brew hot coffee using the pour-over method. I also love making a cold drink that requires a course or french press. The problem was with the coarse grind settings of this grinder. The photo on the right is a grist (French Press) that Starbucks ground for me at their shop (with their coffee). On the left is coffee I ground with this grinder on the highest speed (course 17) and it still came out closer to a medium grind. I contacted the company using the email address on the box the grinder came in. They reacted very quickly. They offered to refund the money. Although I sent them a detailed email and this picture, they have not commented on whether this is normal with this grinder or if it is a faulty grinder. I'm debating whether to try a new grinder or just go with a different brand. If it weren't for the grinding issues that are the number one reason for buying a coffee grinder, I would really like it. I like the size and the ease of use. The bean hopper lid was a little disappointing. It took me a little time to understand that. I also learned that grinding coffee with an electric coffee grinder is a messy business. The bases land all over the counter. I started by laying everything out on a large piece of wax paper so it would be easy to put everything back together in the end.

Pros
  • The most precise grind - Thanks to the high-quality stainless steel grinding wheels, you never have to worry about uneven coffee grinding, regardless of the grind you choose. The quieter geared motor grinds more precisely, more slowly and more evenly than any other coffee grinder on the market, while preserving the coffee's natural aroma and flavor for a rich, strong taste.
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
