I bought two of these gates to build into my patio door so my running baby doesn't push the mesh out and fall through the door and one for the front door too. One came in perfect condition, the other was broken. The one that was in good condition was easy to install, works like a regular tension gate and seems to hold up and pull on my child very well. The second gate divided below. I can still use it but I can see how it affects integrity as it wasn't easy to adjust to a door with a crack in the wood. I had to maneuver and hold the cord together while adjusting the tension so tightening didn't increase the cord. I kept the gate because I just didn't want the hassle of repacking and sending it back. So in my experience you have a 50% chance of getting a gate in good condition.
