So I didn't want a crappy part I couldn't use so I packed up and bought a 500W. I'm happy with that. It works like a socket and you can plug it into your car battery or cigarette lighter. Okay, so why not just plug in a lighter? If you read the instructions, you'll find that items with more than 150 watts are likely to blow your lighter's fuse. So if you plan to use something too powerful like a heating element, you'd better use the battery directly to avoid blowing the car fuses. If you start the car while it's on, you can drive forever. Otherwise, you'll drain your battery, just like you turned on your headlights or radio. And you need to restart the car regularly to prevent the car battery from draining. Otherwise you don't need to know much. Connect it. Use it. Works perfectly.
