Listed here are pages and pages of almost identical spring loaded doorstops, some slightly different but they all do the same thing. If you search, one will always pop up and of course the one with the most reviews. On the other hand when I ordered this one it only had one review. It's a third less and no matter how much I compared them I couldn't tell a single difference. So why pay five bucks more, it's not worth it in my opinion, especially when you get one for every door in your house, it adds up very quickly. So that's what I bought. Let's face it, that thing is just a doorknob, why bother with it. I'm really surprised at how solid it is. In my previous home I had magnetic stops on every door, but that was before they invented those fancy hydraulic springs inside. They really do the same thing as the old style, they just soften the hit a bit, but you still hear that loud clink of metal on metal as the door hits the magnet. Now that I've bought these new breed of hydraulic models, I think they're just a gimmick and have made what used to be easy overly complicated. They are neither better nor worse. Of course there are downsides but these are things you should read and understand before you buy this thing rather than buying it and then complaining because they didn't make it the way you wanted Make sure you understand that the overall uncompressed length is 4-1/2 inches and that while there is no standard for how much space there is between an open door and a wall in an average home, it is approximately three inches. This means that when you install this doorstop, the amount you can fully open the door will decrease by about an inch and a half. It doesn't sound like much, but it could be that you're trying to enter a room, your hands are laden with groceries, and your door won't open fully. Another small detail is that the magnet used is very strong, so strong that closing the door becomes mandatory. I solved this problem by gluing a small round disc of cork (felt would work too) to the receiving end of the set. This serves the dual purpose of deadening the loud clinking of metal on metal when you open the door. Unfortunately this company created a decent product but then dropped the ball without including any instructions and believe me this thing needs one. No drilling template for mounting holes. And while they brag about endorsing their product, they don't provide a website, email address, or phone number. All signs of a company that has rushed to launch a fake of a popular product without knowing how to market it. But if that's what you want, I'll come back to the value, this brand is the same as the others but costs less. If you can take trouble, it might cost you.
