Overall Good Utility Chest with Lock

Although most people use this chest to store important files/papers, it can also be used to store other valuables. There's even a felt lining inside to protect fragile items. It's not the prettiest storage chest, but it's not the ugliest either. The handles on the sides come in handy when the chest is heavy. Now for the negative! As others have said, the combination lock is not that good. First, it just feels cheap, a bit tinny. The numbers don't roll smooth on any track. I'm not worried about the security issue with the lock because I wouldn't put something that valuable in it in the first place. It just reduces the cost of breast integrity. The lock only looks like it could be easily broken. Let's see what happens in the future. Another annoyance, at least for me, is that the lid doesn't stay open on its own. Maybe it's because it's new and the hinges don't open all the way. Again, I'll see if this changes in the future. I think if it had a better lock it would be worth the $48 I paid for it. But in reality, this price is a bit high. Update: The lid only needed a little initial effort and it pops open to snap into place.

Pros
  • Useful for more than it's intended purpose
Cons
  • I'm worried
