I have had two of these for many years. They work great. No need for external power supply. Just plug one end into a phone jack and then connect your phone to this device. Connect the large plug to your recorder's "microphone" jack and the small plug to your recorder's "remote" jack, if your recorder has one (many of them don't, the purpose of the remote jack is to turn the recorder on and off automatically ). A caveat is in order. Telephone call recording laws vary by state or jurisdiction. Some, like Kentucky, only require the consent of at least one participant, like me. For others, no warning is required. However, some jurisdictions require the consent of all. Because this device does not alert you that a call is being recorded, you may need to provide this alert yourself if you are recording your calls in a jurisdiction that requires multiple consent.
