I bought a PandaHall dowel size 30 PH, stainless steel mandrel dowel for winding wire from Revain. This was after purchasing the Mister Twister manual winder. I figured this twister would give me "clean" turns of the needle wire. Twister #2's mandrel's plating was chipping and, despite claiming to be stainless steel, the mandrel seemed to bend too much and eventually buckle a little. Continued use will break the pole. This tool also forced you to use 1/2 inch wire every time. EVERY TIME. It adds up. When looking for a stainless steel mandrel, the PandaHall set was the right choice. The set of 4 vices was IT! ALSO when clamping the mandrel in the vise - just enough room to "hook" my wire and start wrapping it around the stainless steel mandrel without wasting too much wire. , and the second - clean wire wrap with stainless steel mandrels and vise VERY SATISFIED AND IMPRESSED!
