Review on Openfiler by Robert Staten

Fast and reliable. Free version is great for small setups. Easy to use. Just like a normal linux distro. The UI is a bit messy, but it's just a matter of time. There is no GUI for configuration and management of openfiler. You have to use the command line. There are some tools to help, but they are not as easy to use as the CLI. For example, you cannot easily create a snapshot of a running openfiler instance. I have to create a new openfiler instance on a different server and take a snapshot. I would recommend Openfiler to those who don't want to spend a lot of money and don't mind the command line. We use it as a file server and a block device for our VM guests.
