I've been using my first receiver/detector combo successfully for over a year now. It's installed about 125 feet from my house. It worked so well that I bought a second detector and set it up at 250 feet. I thought there might be problems getting sound on the receiver since this detector's line of sight goes through several trees, but that's not a problem. there. It works fine too. Pairing this new one was easy. I haven't had any problems with false alarms. I might aim a bit down the driveway to avoid the wind blowing the vegetation. I live in the country so from time to time I see a living being passing by. For my long drive, the beauty of two detectors is that if they don't trigger within a few seconds, I know it's an animal and not a vehicle, and vice versa. The only minuses and there are small ones. , by having to unscrew the front panel to insert the batteries. I would have preferred the panel to open up on the back, but I believe this method makes it fully waterproof; unlike waterproof ones. Speaking of batteries, I didn't have to change them on the first detector. Another minor downside was that the instructions that came with this single detector did not include instructions on how to set the slide switch inside the unit. The original combined purchase was likely accompanied by a manual explaining this. But in a year, who knows where this manual is hiding. Good remedy!
