Not to brag, but we buy them for whale watching off our porch in Hawaii and other marine activities. We had a 60mm lens and it worked well, but in low light (at dusk or dawn) it didn't pick up enough light. Mathematically, an 80mm lens has about twice the light-gathering area of a 60mm lens. This is required to be displayed in the view. The optics are clean, settings and focus work well. There are two features that we really like. First, it comes with a phone holder so you can take photos and videos if you want. Second, the ability to rotate the pipe. Our other didn't, and while my wife and I watched, we had to decide between me bending over or her standing on tiptoe. This allows us to rotate the tube and stay on the observed object.
