PROS1. One of the smartest film digitizers. (Still quite expensive considering the construction and glitches.) 2. The images from the negatives look great to me. It has B&W and Color settings and outputs very high resolution. (Haven't tried slides yet.) 3. Portable. You don't need to connect it to your computer to use it, so you can sit and scan anywhere near a power outlet. (Requires an extension cord as the one supplied is short.) 4. Settings to adjust, flip and rotate negatives. However, if you do a lot, it's quicker to just adjust them later in your photo editing software. Quick Scan. A few seconds for each negative in the strip. NEITHER FOR NOR AGAINST1. Digitized "typical" 35mm film and just large 110mm negatives, which I have a few, won't do.2. Holds a strip of 6 35mm CONS1 negatives. Trays are difficult to open and align little spikes with film when you have less than a full strip of six negatives.2. Some 35mm slides, possibly from instant cameras, will not fit the dividers on the tray. Therefore, they must be adjusted for each individual frame. (I uploaded a photo.) 3. Extra trays are very expensive, although it's nice to have a pair to speed up scanning a lot of negatives. DOES NOT make 126 negatives. I don't understand why they don't make a tray for them. My husband made me one out of cardboard which is great for this format with this scanner. Other devices adjust color and contrast automatically after you insert a negative or slide. I've had some color negatives that don't auto-set properly and come out VERY bright, although the negative is fine. Not sure why that is. I can usually set them up in my post-scan editing software, but that's the only bug that bothers me, at least on the one I bought. all in all i wanted a portable digitizer with map and preview screen. I've already scanned several hundred negatives and I think that's enough for my needs. Having an inexpensive light plate is incredibly helpful when working with negatives in general and makes loading these trays much easier when done on the plate as shown in my picture. Photos I uploaded. A NOTICE. To see my pictures, you must click on "View all customer pictures" under the main picture of the item. They are not displayed by default. :-(NEXT June 28, 2013 I've scanned thousands of negatives. B&W and color 35mm and a few slides. Also 110 negatives. I love this thing, even with its little imperfections. I scan a lot of these on mine Lying in bed and I scan while watching TV. The portability of this scanner is unmatched for me. I recommend it to anyone who needs a generally inexpensive scanner suitable for home negatives. I blogged about it on my family website for those who who want more photos.
