I carry my keys on a belt clip ring and my office keys have very sharp teeth. After a few days it became clear that an unprotected key fob gets scratched pretty easily, so I ordered this case to protect the key fob. This is purely cosmetic, although I suspect it will likely protect the fob from being dropped from a moderate height as well. It's a bit tedious to attach, but once properly aligned, the lid doesn't interfere with any buttons or functions.
