I just got this camera yesterday and didn't have time to check all the bells and whistles but I'm in love. I'll confess I've never owned a superzoom or DSLR and haven't bought a digital camera recently, but this camera has more options than my old computer! I played around with the zoom and macro shots and really liked them. I can literally touch my target in super macro and still focus. I prefer the manual zoom (20x optical! What a dream!) at 570 because it's easier to control. My research has shown that on many superzoom cameras, high zoom is more difficult to handle, and on those with both high and low speed zoom, low speed tends to fail fairly quickly. Not to mention that it increases battery life and one less thing to break! It's comfortable to hold, not too heavy or light, and the grips are such that even a sweaty hand won't slip off. The tripod mount is metal, which is a nice plus, but you have to be careful that the tripod pad doesn't get in the way of the zoom controls. I'm thrilled with what I've seen so far, loving the control and the ability to work anywhere from full auto focus to manual focus. The color quality is also excellent. I've been using an old (film) DSLR for many years with a bunch of extra lenses (2x converter, 80-200 lens, standard lens, macro filter, etc.) and it can do it all. , without further information. I would highly recommend this 570 to anyone who wants more than just aim and shoot but isn't willing to spend $1,000 on "boxes" and camera lenses.
