Review on ANNSM 31.5 Inch Carbon Fiber Camera Track Slider With Auto-Face Tracking Pan And Time-Lapse Capabilities For DSLRs by Jason Bolden

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Impossible to beat for the price

Overall, this is an exceptional value for a weighted slider. The five star rating factors in price; if it were a fair bit more expensive, I'd give it 4 stars.Likes:This slider is very sturdy and stable, and has a great overall fit/finish. With just a few minutes of practice, I was able to get very smooth, consistent movement with a fairly heavy camera/lens (Sony A7III with Tamron 28-75mm). Also works great with compact cameras and cell phones. The weighted flywheel really works great to achieve a smooth and even slide motion. It comes with a pretty nice case with form-fitting foam (which is surprising considering the ultra-low price point). There are nice foam bumpers on either end of the rails to prevent a harsh stop (no metal-on-metal).Adjustment wrenches are included. There's really not a whole lot to complain about, but in the interest of being balanced, I've rattled off some issues below.Dislikes:The 31.5" advertised size is for the entire slider assembly, not the actual travel path. The max possible travel path is 27.5". But 27.5" width is only possible if no camera is attached, or if you have a taller/skinnier ball head or other mount, because the flywheel is on the "inside" of the frame and will hit the camera or head before the slider base can get all the way to the other side. In my testing, I actually get about 26.5" of travel, which is still very good, but a little less than what I hoped for based on the advertised spec. The knob on the flywheel makes it a hard to get smooth motion. It's much easier to use a video ball head or simply use your hand on the base of the slider base than to use the knob. Further, there is no user-friendly way to remove or replace the knob. Not the biggest deal in the world, but it's something I'd prefer to be able to adjust. There are no instructions included AT ALL. Nothing. There was an extra anodized orange thumbscrew included in the hardware baggie, but it doesn't seem to fit any of the screw holes on the slider. No idea what it's for, and with no instructions, I suppose it will remain a mystery. On the other hand, the slider comes fully assembled, so there's no real *need* for a manual.Again, overall, this is a very good price:performance ratio product.

Pros
  • Camera Supports & Stabilizers
Cons
  • The carbon fiber construction of the slider is sturdy, but also quite slippery, making it difficult to get a good grip and adjust the camera angle or movement speed as needed
