The ancestors of these clips, the white clips with double foam tape applied, have several disadvantages: the foam tape is brittle and doesn't age well, the glue isn't that good and will fade over time, and the white clips are fragile and easy to see. White terminals are also not suitable for large diameter wires. In general, old-style clips didn't cut it. These 3M Command clamps do not have these disadvantages. Past experience with 3M Command adhesive shows that these clips stay in place until no longer required. Pull the tab and the clips will release. The included clear plastic clips aren't as visible as the old white ones and fit larger gauge cables. Time will tell if they are stronger. However, these clips are for lead clothing or cable management to keep the wires in place. You should not buy these clamps if you will be putting heavy loads on them. Overall I am very happy with these handy clips and intend to keep them with me. Yes, they are more expensive, but still cheap enough to be preferred over inferior products.
