Review on 🔌 ZyXEL BRG35503 Cable Modem by Samuel Bowen

The modem works fine as it was installed about five days ago to replace my modem rented from TWC. My uplink and downlink speeds have more than doubled, although perhaps I shouldn't be surprised given the old technology I've replaced. The problem with this product is the poor assembly instructions. The included quick start guide assumes you are connecting the modem directly to the PC and does not provide instructions for connecting to a router, which most will probably do. It doesn't fully describe the functionality of the indicator lights, so if you get lost, you probably won't get helpful help from the documentation (note: rebooting the router after connecting to the modem is the main missing step). . Finally, your first online session, at least for TWC, is automatically directed to their "activatemymodem.com" server, where you go through the registration and activation steps. It's not instantaneous, and even when connected, the response time is slow enough to suspect something is wrong. This step is also not described in the documentation. In the end it works, but not without some unnecessary worries caused by the steps that could be explained in the documentation.
