I taped them to the bike and helmet. The restrained black daytime view is pretty good - you'll only notice it from certain angles due to the reflection of sunlight. Of course, they don't reflect as much as normal grey-white reflectors. But they have more than enough reflectivity at night to improve safety. Your reserve per day cannot be overestimated. If they weren't black during the day, I wouldn't use reflectors on the bike and helmet! So overall they increase my cycling in low light and at night, which is exactly what I needed.
