Doesn't turn on when car is on

I bought several of these devices because my car doesn't have bluetooth - each has it's own quarks that make me scramble to find the best solution. Based on other reviews, I don't have the same experience as others. When I start the car, the device does not turn on automatically. I have to turn on the car, then unplug the power adapter it's connected to (USB cigarette lighter adapter), plug it back in, then the device lights up and connects to my phone (shows 'connected' in BT settings ). But when I turn on the music, the sound comes from my phone. In addition to manually unpairing/fixing the device when I start my car, I have to wait for it to "pair" with my phone so I can go into the bluetooth settings and tell it to disconnect and then tap Tunai to connect again. In a few moments, the sound will come out of my car's speakers. This is a mess and stupidity. Really stupid. So I have a feeling the problem is with the device. If it works like other reviewers have said I would give it 5 stars - the way it's supposed to work is exactly the solution I'm looking for. But the device I received does not match the product description. By the way, I'm a professional senior IT analyst specializing in mobile technologies, so I have 20 years of experience in IT, the last 10 of which I've been supporting mobile devices. Technology, Bluetooth, etc. I think the product I received might be defective. But if that doesn't speak to the functionality of the device as a whole, then it certainly speaks to the quality of the product. Take this review for what it's worth. It is possible that it was just an accident and a defective device.
