Review on Revel Men's Running Shoes by Brooks by Greg Mahoney

Great shoes! Shoes

I run 4.5 miles every other day. I've been using Mizuno for years but decided to switch it up and try Brooks. I will say after walking in these shoes once that they are great. I read a lot of reviews before buying them and I was a little worried about the sizing as a lot of people said they run small. I was skeptical so I decided to order my normal size and if for some reason it didn't fit I just wanted to return it and order a size up. It turned out that these shoes fit me perfectly. I don't understand what people mean when they say they run small. If you think so, then you shouldn't know what your usual size is. They are perfect for my test run. They actually fit like a glove and my toes were NOT pinched in the front. It was the perfect match. The first thing I noticed was how light they are. It felt like I had nothing on my feet. Depreciation is correct in my opinion. They are not too soft but feel right. I noticed that the bounce after heel strike seemed to help propel me forward a little, as if they were providing a useful energy transfer. This is a great running shoe made by someone who has been running for about 24 years. When running, I noticed that the grip could be a little better. It had rained a few hours before my run and the trail I walked was a bit wet and slippery, especially in shady areas. I found I wasn't having the best grip on contact with the shoes and I felt like I might slip if I wasn't careful to "walk safely". Otherwise I love these shoes. However, I almost never run in the rain so it doesn't really matter. Perhaps Brooks wanted to use a harder rubber on the tread of these shoes to reduce friction on the pavement when running, since shoes with more grip create more resistance and are harder to walk on.
