Update: Bosch replacement in 2 years

Update: Rusty water still comes every morning because the hot water outlet pipe is rusted, the water temperature starts to become uneven, and it is awkward to disconnect and disconnect. remove, so I'm going to replace it with a standard 2.5 gallon Home Depot heater! I bought this device because I thought Bosch was of high quality. Installation was easy and everything was great for the first 5 months THEN. Every morning we experienced a brief burst of rusty water. Contacted Bosch and they recommended replacing the anode rod and checking the ground. AFTER 5 MONTHS I NEED TO REPLACE THE ANODE ROD - REALLY? We live in Scottsdale, Arizona and the water in our home is filtered and softened by Kinetico. Our other water heaters have no problems with the anode rod. So I removed the Bosch water heater, removed the heating element to inspect the anode rod and found that the anode rod had completely dissolved! AFTER 5 months? Now the fittings for cold and hot water are rusted. Even though my multimeter showed a positive electrical ground, I even added a direct ground to the heater plate before reassembling the Bosch unit. I reinstalled the Bosch water heater and will see if this rusting situation comes up again. In the meantime I am looking for another manufacturer to replace this device. I've had different heaters in other houses and never had this problem. Luckily I'm an engineer and can clear things up: How much would it cost you to fix this device?
