I 3D print a lot of parts including plastic cases for projects. Relying on a screw holding when driven into plastic is suboptimal. These knurled brass nuts solve the problem excellently. To use, put the nut in a suitable hole in the model, slightly smaller than the nut. Take a heated soldering iron and insert the soldering iron tip into the brass socket. Let it heat until the plastic starts to melt. Insert the nut and then remove the soldering iron. The plastic will harden and hold the nut in place. When everything is ready to go, assemble the parts and thread the bolt into the nut. Very easy.
