I am retired, living in RV. I make delicious coffee daily with a Breville and must keep it hot for at least two hours. I need a 17- or 18-ounce size. I use only wide bottom mugs. I own 7 styles so you might say I'm a wide bottom connoisseur. I usually buy PLASTIC because it goes in the microwave and the dishwasher (both important) and won't break while driving my 2007 Tiffin Allegro house down the highway. SO. . .I decided to give this Hotjo ceramic mug a try. It's certainly very pretty to look at, pleasing design. But here are the things you can only learn by buying: 1) It weighs a ton every time you pick it up. That's just a difference between ceramic and plastic, but I don't like it. 2) You can't get your hand inside the top opening to give it a good washing. This is a very minor point. 3) The real problem: the plastic top lid hangs loosely on two fragile clips and IS A COMPLETE JOKE. Sorry designers. . . .you need to study other lid styles. Simple is best. 4) And worst of all, my coffee was ice cold in 30 minutes. Ugh! Cup, you're done for. Too bad my husband threw the box away, so I can't return it. On our way to the thrift store now. These nice people never said their mug was thermal, right ! So if you can finish your coffee in 15 minutes and have a pet that knocks cups over, then this mug would be fine. I'm so sorry I have to post these drawbacks, but. . .essential facts for coffee drinkers like me. I am now posting a pic of my all time favorite wide bottom mug, which I cannot find any more but would pay any amount to get some. This one says "Cains Coffee" on the side. The lid is wonderful and simple. Williams industries says they did make the lid but claims they have no memory of the cup itself. Weird! Happy drinking, coffee lovers.
