Review on πŸ”Š Jabra Speak 510: Premium Wireless Bluetooth Speaker - Enhanced Sound Quality for Mobile and Softphone - Portable and Effortless Setup for On-the-Go Meetings by Scott King

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I rarely find a suitable technique. This one does!

I don't give many 5 star reviews but this one excels simply in sound quality, functionality and ease of use. In fact, I would take it to work and use my cell phone instead of the speakerphone on the ubiquitous IP phones that are so prevalent in offices today. Let's face it, we all don't want to spend a few Benjamins or tens of thousands on commercial Polycoms, but we don't want anything that lasts less than a few years either. I've bought Anker brands and other hands-free versions available, but they're fragile, don't have a decent dynamic range, and sometimes have cumbersome controls or poor Bluetooth connectivity (e.g. Bluetooth version 2.0). Enter the Jabra Speak 510. Not only is this pooch compact enough to slip easily into your computer bag, but it also comes with its own soft neoprene pouch. The charging cable is neatly tucked under the device, with enough forethought on the part of the designers to ensure the USB connector can 'snap in' without any awkward protrusions etc. That means no worries if you forget your Micro/Mini/A/B/C USB or proprietary power cable. But even if I did, I spent several hours on conference calls with this workhorse. I used it at least 6-7 hours a week on a single charge. The controls are capacitive and the LEDs are colorful and easy to understand without instructions. Press the battery button and you will see a red (or green if fully charged) battery level indicator. The LEDs show a white volume indicator. Blue LED for. You guessed it, Bluetooth connectivity. And of course you can connect directly via the 3.5mm phone jack when Bluetooth isn't available. If I could only bitch about one thing? In fact, the microphone is in one spot along the edge, so those sitting on the opposite side of the table might not be heard as well. But at the price Jabra is selling, there's certainly no barrier to showing it off, especially as the only other way to solve this problem is to turn it into a spider phone, priced beyond the reach of your average consumer. Now if only I can find a Bluetooth headset that costs as much as this speakerphone. :)
