Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ GODSHARK NVME Adapter with Heat Sink: M.2 SSD Key M to PCI Express x4/x8/x16 Converter Expansion Card - Windows XP 7 8 10 Compatible by Brian Delgado

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well in MacPro4.1 updated to 5.1.

Installed this on my Mac Pro Tower 4.1 (flashed to 5.1) and used a 1TB ADATA XPG SC8200 Pro NVMe SSD as the boot drive with Mojave with a Radeon RX-580 graphics card. Some initial instability but now after I reinstalled the adapter in the second (16x) slot it's stable. As with my previous OWC SATA 3 PCIe card, I had to put a small felt pad between it and the graphics card to give the RX 580's fan enough clearance to spin freely. Not as fast as those NVMe ones Card could run, but still 3x faster read speed than the SATA 3 SSD I had and more than 10x faster write speed at 1500MB/s on both due to PCIe 2.0 4x interface limitations while for the max speed This particular NVMe card would require a bridge card 3000MB/s on these Macs in a PCIe 2.0 16x slot.

Pros
  • Memory Card Accessory
Cons
  • Zero
