Review on Wolf Gourmet 6-in-1 Multi Cooker: Precision Cooking with Sous Vide, Sauté, Slow Cook, and More! by Raymond Wade

Not impressed yet, the first block is DOA, the second block has no temperature control

I was very happy to finally see a triple insert multi cooker, although I wasn't happy with the price. I understand that an insert costs a few hundred dollars compared to a similar all-clad design. Otherwise, however, the unit is no better than any other $99 multi-cooker, same cheap Chinese design, materials and quality control. The device turns on, but with all settings only the display works. The probe only reports an error. Start/stop beeps like it's "running" but it never draws more than 1.2 watts and doesn't get hot. The other problem is the stupid handle, it sticks out 1.5 inches and makes storage difficult, all for ridiculous "brand recognition". This knob could easily be a few more knobs that don't stick out like that sticky cheap control knob (don't twist too hard, I'm sure the tabs will snap) We're waiting for the second unit, hoping we get one that does is working. If the review doesn't update, expect the second unit to fail or die shortly thereafter. For this price this thing should have a QA/QC preventing DOA devices from leaving the factory. Or maybe use some really useful components instead of consumer junk. Edit: The second unit arrived, unpacked, plugged in, added some water and switched to manual heating. He's heating up! Here the good story ends. Warm water heats up to 178 degrees. Q, if you set the selector switch to "low", "medium" or "high" after power off, don't force it to power on until the temp drops below 170, all 3 seem the same temp too hold, so it may seem that the temperature control doesn't work very well in manual mode. Try the sous vide mode to test the temperature control. According to the manual, the device displays both the setpoint and the sensor temperature. This continues until the set point is reached, after which the "sensor temperature" will just show your set point and not quite agree with you anymore (tested with Thermapen). At times it exceeded the temperature by more than 20 degrees. The instructions also state that you can regulate the temperature during sous vide cooking. This does not apply to this unit, once the set point is reached the only way to adjust the temperature is to turn it off and on again to start over. In short, device number two does not regulate the temperature and returns, there will be no third attempt.
