Review on Logitech M585 Wireless Mouse – Seamless Control and File Management Between 2 Windows and Apple Mac Devices via Bluetooth or USB, 2-Year Battery Life, Graphite by Randy Salgado

Bluetooth or unified receiver connection possible

I was happy to be able to pair the Logitech Wireless M585 mouse with both my Mac Mini running Mojave and my Windows 10 PC. I followed the instructions to pair the mouse to both computers, which was easy. I've also connected computers to a Logitech keyboard that works with FLOW, a Logitech software that runs on multiple platforms. I found that while both devices (mouse and keyboard) worked with both computers when paired with a merging receiver, they didn't work. works very well with a PC running Windows 10. The Bluetooth connection worked better in terms of faster device detection when switching from one to another, but there was more lag (e.g. when typing), although it was less noticeable with a mouse . The FLOW software was easy to install on both Mac and PC and worked well for file transfers, although I only tried it a couple of times to make sure it worked. As for the mouse itself, I was disappointed with the cheap build quality. I probably have 10 Logitech mice that vary in price and features. The M585 is mid-priced but definitely underperforms in terms of smooth scrolling and hand feel. The value of this mouse lies in its ability to work on multiple platforms. This is handy if you have two computers on your desk, but there are other options if you don't need a multi-computer workflow. The M325 is cheaper with smooth scrolling and feels more substantial too. The biggest reason I'm disappointed with this mouse is that when using it on my Windows 10 PC it seemed spot on in terms of accuracy. The Windows computer took longer to recognize the mouse when switching from the Mac. A NOTICE. I've been using it through a Logitech Unifying receiver and may switch and switch to Bluetooth to see if that eases my pain from using this mouse all the time. Both are specified as options when setting up this mouse. IF the build quality was more solid and less "cheap plastic" I would be happier as I think the basics are good and it works on both platforms. It's not the most comfortable mouse, and the scroll wheel is noisy and harsh to the touch. Not my first choice but some will like it.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Good, but not great
