I tried it and it worked very well. Gooseneck extends about 5 inches to give you good height. The platform that holds the phone works very well. You press a small button to release it, place your phone on the platform and press the side panels to secure the phone. My wife and I both have Samsung phones and both fit comfortably. The bottom of the cup holder fits perfectly into the car cup holder. The phone holder fits into the cup holder by turning the wheel/knob until the plates at its base pop out and secure the cup holder. While it doesn't do particularly well on bumpy, rough city roads. This phone holder seems to be durable and you can manipulate both the gooseneck and cellphone platform to suit your needs. Appears to be of good quality. So far I am satisfied with this device and can recommend it. I
