Lots of features, great customization, great picture

Although it says WiFi it also works fully wired (Ethernet) in addition to fully wireless (2.4GHz WiFi). This is a good option when Ethernet is nearby. You need to connect to your local network with a wired cable long enough to tell the camera which Wi-Fi to use, then you can turn it off and use Wi-Fi. You can connect directly to the camera using the IP address in any web browser (IE is best for setting up motion detection). No software is required for setup either. It works great on Windows, Mac (although they say it doesn't), Linux, etc. You can also check out the CamHi phone app and some other Windows apps that know how to talk to the camera , connect to it. Day and night vision looks good. I've found that night vision attracts a lot of bugs and triggers motion detection, but this seems to be an issue with all IR cameras. This camera supports adding a remote motion sensor, which is the right solution for bugs. The instructions are a bit sparse, but there are plenty of documents and videos on the website. To install an additional SD card, you need to loosen the 4 screws around the lens to access the SD card slot. It's very simple and only takes a few minutes. The camera feels solid and looks nice. It has a decent field of view, but it's stationary and doesn't support panning or zooming. You don't need cloud storage, monitoring service, monthly fee, etc. to use this camera. It's very open so you can use it however you want. It can send email notifications. It can save normal and warning snapshots/videos to SD card. It can also transfer all this data to an FTP server in real time. Most versions of Windows have a built-in FTP server that you can enable and configure. All of my cameras store images and videos on my PC's hard drive. Right now I'm taking snapshots every 30 seconds and video + motion snapshots.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
