This model of instant-read thermometers is widely available. You can tell it was made in the same factory because there are half a dozen brands out there with suspiciously similar designs that are actually almost identical. It's okay, it was cheap so I bought it and three others in the same price range. I'd say SOOSISI (not quite a brand) Instant Read is competent. The read time is 4-5 seconds which is actually slow compared to some others. When you open the probe (it snaps into place) the power turns on and the reading is displayed in degrees Celsius. You have to manually change it to Fahrenheit each time. You can turn it on manually and it will remember Fahrenheit if you turn it off in Fahrenheit, but as soon as you close it the temperature reverts to Celsius. It's not really important, but it's a little annoying. With constant boiling, it reads 210F, so 2 degrees less. Close enough to check the meat I suppose. There's no way to calibrate it, but I wasn't expecting that from such a cheap model. The display is normal size, not big, but easy to read. It comes with an easily replaceable AAA battery. Overall it's a decent instant read, but I wouldn't buy it at full price.
