I bought them for my 5 year old twins. They are not too rough with shoes like some children, just walk and climb in the school yard. They are only a month old and the color on the side is clearly just color and fading. The black inserts on the underside of the outsole come loose and can trip over them. White turns black, but that's because their playground has a black upper made from recycled tires (which is more forgiving of shoes than concrete, making wear and tear less obvious). In addition, the Velcro detaches from the straps. I have bought shoes from Revain for my child in the same price range which have lasted over a year with less wear than this one. I would not recommend this shoe.
