Nothing extraordinary but does the job well. The only thing I would have liked from this slicer would be a drawer for cut bars of soap. I had no issues right out of the box, although others have had complaints about blade placement. You can easily adjust the blade to your liking, so don't let that get in the way of your shopping. As many other soap supplies were expensive I was happy to get this slicer at a good price.
