Let me start with that. I have kissed many vacuum frogs in my life. My relationship with this instrument, even at the best of times, has been turbulent and unsatisfying. And it would inevitably end in violence - on my part. I'm not proud of it. But without a doubt, vacuum cleaners were my most hated gadgets. But now I'm in love for the first time! I love this vacuum. I admire my shark when the opportunity arises. First, I always found my previous vacuums terribly noisy. Like a 747. I always put earplugs in my ears when vacuuming. Fast forward to the arrival of my shark and I was so excited that I immediately started using it. When I was done with a room, I realized I forgot my earplugs! That doesn't mean it's quiet, it's just not a Boeing 747. More like a two-seater plane. Second, some of my old vacuums (some bagged, some canned) can throw dust into the air. My Shark doesn't seem to do this as it has a nice thick filter (which is a round tubular sponge) that can be washed. It's really important. Who wants to clean the house just to make dust fly?! Third, it is fairly easy to clean. You lather and rinse the canister and let it air dry before putting it back in. WAYYYY better than those awful vacuum bags. I don't miss these things. And it spins like a Dyson! But cheaper. The suction power is fabulous. Although once the suction power was bad and I could not find any blockage in the hose. I worried that my Shark wasn't my dream boat after all. But then I looked down and saw this round compartment near the rear wheel that had debris in it. I leaned forward and found that the cover/lid is removable. I was able to remove the dirt and put the lid back on. The suction power is back to normal! And the Shark body can be removed from the base when you need to build stairs or skyscrapers! That's the real deal folks. And that kind of love can be found too.
