Of all the technical failures I've seen, and in 45 years in the automotive business, I've seen a lot, but I still marvel at the genius that caused this mess. Briggs built more engines than Detroit, and the simple rod and spring they use to operate the choke has always worked flawlessly. But somehow this engineer came up with a wax-actuated air shock. Wax. Yes, you read it right. Wax! It was the excellent Ganges. That reminds me of what Scotty said to Kirk. "The more complex you make the plumbing, the easier it is to unclog the drain." Undoubtedly, this engineer was beyond his wits.
