I love this dehydrator. I almost didn't get it based on some reviews, but finally I went with my intuition. I'm glad I did. I run the suction cup for about 45 minutes before putting the meat in. I made three types of cuts. Bought them pre-cut even though I have a planer; less work this way. I was cooking beef for the first time and was pleasantly surprised when the thinner tops of my first batch were completely dry after 3 hours. It took my old dehydrator 10 hours. Of course, I couldn't control the temperature of my old dehydrator, so this might be magic. The top of the roast beef and the eye of the round cuts took a little longer - seven hours. On one of my shots, I pulled out the tray to check the progress at 2 hours and significant dehydration was already occurring. Anyway, I'm trying a second batch with venison and beef tonight.
