Non-magnetic stainless steel

This KES ship drain is made from 100% non-magnetic (non-ferrous) materials. I noticed someone saying it was steel. Yes. They are all made up of some brass parts (nuts/lock rings) and type 304 stainless steel for the pipes as advertised, which is definitely steel and will not rust the last time I checked. My car exhaust is 304 stainless steel and has stood up to 5 years in the salty New Jersey winter puddles. The tube wall thickness is definitely thinner, so please don't use wrenches or pliers on the tubes. In any case, there's no reason other than the lock nut, and that's just to tighten it up. You may or may not need to trim the downspout, but that depends on the siphon and drain height in your home - it has nothing to do with this product. Do you prefer it too short? I did not think. This is done on purpose by almost every plumbing supplier. Looks good and seems ok. I'll see how long this lasts compared to the overpriced units sold at Rosarito Pabellon's home warehouse in Mexico. I have a feeling the KES will outlive them and look better for less than half the price. The sides of the KES are at least 60% - 100% thicker than the Mexican Home Depot replacement and took time to saw through. Chrome plating is great! (The one I replaced can be crushed with fingers/hands, pure rubbish) Brass-colored cork parts may be metal (zinc/aluminum) and brass-colored plated, but I can't be sure without a saw. Both types of metal (brass and pot) are non-magnetic. I simply smeared a thin, very even coat of 100% mildew resistant 100% silicone GE kitchen and bathroom sealant onto the top two silicone washers. Only where they come in contact with the bowl of the glass jar, not the underside of the bottom disc that rests on the counter/plinth. It depends on you. Make sure you center the washers as best you can, visually and by feel, and then use both hands to slowly lower the bowl onto the center of the washer. Use a spirit level over the bowl if you feel the need for perfection, but it probably isn't level anyway! Well, the classic Teflon (white) PTFE tape at the end of the threaded hose. I actually used gray Oatey tape because someone took my other rolls. Gray goes well with decoration.
