Review on πŸ”Œ Efficient 2-in-1 HDMI Cable and Network Cable Tester by Optimal Shop: Test RJ45 Cat5 Cat6 HDMI Wires by Jared Barit

Can be used for a pass/fail test but wrong pinout

You need a 9 volt battery for this. To turn on, press the FUNC button on the front of the device for about 3 seconds. Do the same to turn it off. To test RJ45 Ethernet, press down on the slide button on the side. "RJ45" lights up on the front panel. Plug the end of the cable into both RJ45 jacks on the tester. For HDMI, move the slider up and "HDMI” will light up. Plug the ends of the cable into both HDMI ports. To switch to "Quick” mode, simply press the FUNC button again. This allows you to switch between slow and fast. The good news is that all the little lights are on and it acts as a continuity tester for all pins on Ethernet/RJ45 and HDMI cables. I also like the price...this is the cheapest HDMI continuity tester I could find. I like that both parts snap together and it seems like it could be powered from a micro USB "phone charger" if you don't have 9v. The bad news is that the pinout is wrong, at least for the HDMI cable. They have pin 13, which is the CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) signal, as does pin 7. This would be correct if you looked at the cable from the other side, as pin 13 is the fourth when viewed from the front. HDMI cable connector. So they matched this tester's LEDs to the HDMI connector's pinout, which means the pin numbers are a mirror image of the actual pinout. So if you're not too worried about which cable is bad, this testing program is fine. . But for me it's a huge mistake.
