I was amazed at how quickly this meat thermometer recorded the temperature of the pork chops I was preparing. I stuck it in the chop and voila, the number appeared instantly. I add that this was at 145 degrees Fahrenheit, so it may or may not register as quickly at a lower temperature. It is very easy to clean and the numbers are easy to read. On the other hand, for most regular pork chops, as well as chicken breasts, the gauge is a bit heavy as it tends to tip a bit and become unbalanced. Another thing is that the dial is large - it's great for reading the temperature, but it also makes it difficult to store. However, this is by far the best working meat thermometer I've ever had and I just keep my old tiny slow cut thermometer for small cuts.
