When my mother recently died I was given my grandmother's silver chest which had many pieces and all were tarnished. I bought both liquid paint and the one in the can for comparison. They are identical. Both are easy to put on (I used a torn sock to put them on) and need buffing before they dry. The smell isn't as strong as some metal polishes, but while it's lavender in color, it definitely doesn't smell like lavender. Since both products are identical, it doesn't matter which one you use. In fact, you'll have to decide whether it's easier for you to squeeze the product out of the bottle or dip the rag into the jar and use it that way. Either way, Maas Polish effortlessly removes plaque that has lasted for years. (I did, however, put on a pair of latex gloves to keep the black coating from getting on my fingers and under my nails. It was a useful extra step.)
