Great for road trips!
This super cute melamine plate set is perfect for car trips. They are very light, BPA-free and store perfectly in the fridge. Okay, after reading that they aren't recommended for microwave use, I did a little research. Apparently melamine does not release any chemicals. Neither in the microwave nor out of the microwave. OK that's good! So what happens when you do this in the microwave? Repeated exposure to heat (microwave or any heat above 170*F) can dry out the melamine and eventually cause cracking in the finish. Okay, they're for camping and picnics, so I agree.
