Firstly it is not the same weight and caliber as traditional black whistle from Lowes etc. It is thinner and easier. and painted black. I doubt the threads will mate with standard black pipe fittings based on looking at these pipes, but again, buying these pipes and matching fittings from this supplier is cheaper than mixing them with standard black pipe. I bought this pipe as well as floor flanges. from this company to build an entertainment system (3 levels) for our home. I've used them in conjunction with molded live edge maple tops. I have to say that I was very satisfied with the result. The whistle isn't that heavy (good if you use multiple whistles) but it was very strong. The nice thing is that the tubes have just enough threads to screw them all the way into the floor flanges they sell, so no additional threads are visible and you don't have to guess how far to screw them all in to get the right height all four sides. With a real black whistle, you have to adjust each one and twist and fiddle around to get them all the same height. Now a note: the carving is not as nice and tight as the black pipe. a bit so they need to be fully tightened no matter what fitting you use and again apparently you need to use fittings from this supplier. Pipe flanges so the flat side may be a bit uneven but that hasn't caused me any problems. However, I had to rotate some of the legs/stands a bit to align all four flanges with each other. I even bump into it with a real black whistle. You bolt on the bottom flanges and they can drift apart a bit etc so even the real ones have to fiddle with a twist here and there to get all four roughly level. Your coloring is good. Some had scratches here or there but the magic marker fixed that and then again it's kind of an industrial look so I guess it didn't matter. In general, the whole set of pipes, flanges, etc. was in good condition. I wish the threads were a little tighter but again they were fine when screwed all the way in but I still wish the threads were tighter. I would and will buy them again when I don't need the heavy black pipe.
