Bought in both sizes for comparison. I have women's shoes in size 8-1/2. The smaller size fits but doesn't go up as high on the leg and the sock design is a little crooked down the shin when exercising and I have a larger calf muscle than usual. But they can still be worn and the feet and toes don't pinch too much. Now the larger size is much more comfortable and the design keeps its shape and the toes reach to the knees. The legs also have a little more space. I prefer the larger size. They stay in place and won't slide down your feet or down your leg, and they won't make your feet sweat to breathe. Very comfortable compression stocking.
