I have to overhaul kitchen faucets about every 6 years because my cold water doesn't soften; Scale really spoils these cartridges. This is a pretty easy fix. Don't forget to turn off the water supply and keep plumbing grease handy for new parts. I always replace gaskets and spout seals while disassembling the faucet. They're cheap and easier to do all at once. Take photos of the inside of the mixer at all stages of its disassembly. This helps if you forget which side is up etc when trying to put it back together.
