Updated. 22 gauge phone wire, 26 gauge is best. It's advertised as 18 gauge, which is a large wire. I untangled it and it was only about 800 feet. It is advertised at 1000 feet. I need about 950. I'm an electronics engineer. I know wire sizes. I haven't connected it yet, I need more cables. Update 8/10/18 The seller sent me a 1000ft 18 gauge reel from Amazon. The new wire sent is correct, and the spool contains about 4 times more wire than the original (see image for comparison: red is old, black is new). The seller has acknowledged that there is a problem on their manufacturer's part and will be working on a solution. They take great care to ensure that the quality of their products matches what is advertised. If you are looking for an 800ft cable that will likely work with the system, this may still work for you, but the package does not currently support a 1000ft 18 gauge cable. See image. I upvoted for the care taken by the seller but can't give 5 stars because it wasn't good when I received it. Haven't connected it yet. But I rolled out a new cable and it reached the expected distance.
