I'll start my review by the fact that this leash is used for an 85lb Malamute/Husky whose main goal in life is to be able to see and smell everything and also to run everywhere to achieve their goals reach. He's taken me grass surfing more than once, with a regular collar, choke chain or no leash, with a man dangling from behind dammit! And I'm by no means an easily flexible waif. So it's obvious I want a strong, long line that's a good width, easy to grab, and doesn't burn my hands. Aside from the actual *finished* length, this leash met all my needs and exceeded my expectations. In terms of length, it probably started out as a 10-foot strip of leather, but got shorter by about 18 inches after the button and wrist strap braid was completed. The leather is of good weight and width and feels soft in the hand. My guess is that after a few cleanings and lubrication/conditioning this line will be buttery smooth. This will definitely be too much leash for a medium/small, small or toy dog as it is heavy. I didn't notice too much "stretch" other than the braids, which is what I was expecting. And trust me, my Huskamut? malamus? has been doing his best while I continue to work on his training. 4.5 stars because the actual length is not 10 feet. Regardless, I would recommend and recommend this leash to anyone who has asked for it.
