Review on Jagwire Mountain Brake Switchback Silver by Jonathan Sanders

Great V-Brake Pads

I recently bought a new Giant Escape RX-1 flat bar road bike (about 500 miles on it). The OE Tektro brake pads felt very noisy and abrasive (constantly found flakes of rim material on the pad surface). Bye. In short, I think it was a very worthwhile upgrade. Highly recommended. Note. I've noticed that the original brake pads that come with new bikes (including mid-range models and up) often feel quite abrasive - this is true even for big brand pads like Avid and Tektro. Not sure why that is - maybe they've been in stock too long and the rubber has hardened over time. Whatever the reason, it is definitely preferable to upgrade relatively inexpensive brake pads rather than wearing out your discs prematurely.
