Review on Louisville Slugger Blue Flame Pitching Machine: Advanced Training Equipment for Exceptional Performance by Dustin Keller

Accurate and efficient - lightweight flutes are a must

I have a Blue Flame in the trunk of my Camry. Not sure how it fits in there with room for other things, but it does. I've always been notoriously wild at the mound, and once I started coaching my kids' team and throwing a few kids, I knew I needed another option. I wanted to try this out before spending any money on Juggs and I'm very glad I did. I keep about 12 Lite Flight balls mixed up in a bucket of regular balls and it really keeps the caged kids busy. You should focus on whether a 60-mile heater or a 40-mile drip shows up. One kid on my team has a legitimate shot at playing pro ball in the future, and I've had fun varying the speed by adjusting how much pressure I'm applying to the pedal. My only complaint is that the car can bounce after impact and you can end up throwing it at a kid. The good thing is that light flying balls aren't heavy enough to do any real damage, and real balls don't fly fast enough to do anything else. The spring has worn out over the last two seasons and I'm thinking of getting another one to add some speed. I don't recommend it for field practice as it doesn't throw very large popups. Because of this my kids are getting a lot more reps in the cage and our hitting has improved a lot. I always raise my left hand in the air and release it just before serve and that helps with timing. Edit: This thing finally died this year (2021) after five good years of use. Highly recommended.
